In these uncertain economic times, “we the people” expect our government to tighten its belt as we tighten ours. It is past time for our state legislature to evaluate its costs and eliminate wasteful spending, just as each of us evaluates our own costs at home and at work.
I am working to make Connecticut more affordable for our families, our businesses and our seniors struggling to cope with rising expenses on a fixed income. As your State Senator, I am working to:
- cut and cap skyrocketing state gas taxes;
- enact a local property tax cap;
- eliminate burdensome unfunded state mandates on municipalities, like the in-school suspension mandate
- institue a permanent property tax reduction for seniors;
- provide tax incentives to help small businesses create jobs and grow our economy; and
- ensure every child in Bridgeport, Monroe and Trumbull receives a quality education.
